The YMCA Camp of Maine offers a unique opportunity for those individuals looking to gain experience working with children ages 8 - 15. Enjoy the summer and have fun on Lake Cobbosseecontee in Winthrop, Maine.

Basic Guidelines and Information for Application:

  • YMCA Camp summer contract season is from June 18, 2017 – August 12, 2017
  • Minimum age for a Senior Cabin and Activity Leader is 18 as of June 1, 2017
  • Minimum age for a Junior Cabin and Activity Leader is 17 as of June 1, 2017
  • All positions require camp staff to live on property, unless authorized by the Director

The online staff application is HERE. After setting up your user name (email) and password, go through the steps and complete the application. The names and email addresses of references are required to complete the application. After hitting submit, references will be automatically sent an online form that will be linked to you application once the recommendation is complete. Once hired, additionally required paperwork will be accessible through the CampInTouch account established during the initial log-in.

Returning Staff are required to submit one professional (teacher, coach, mentor, employer) and one personal (parent, guardian, close family friend) references different from last year.New Staff Applicants are required to submit two professional (teacher, coach, mentor, employer) and one personal (parent, guardian, close family friend) references.

Cabin Counselors and Life Guards

June 18 – August 12: We are looking for cabin leaders who enjoy working with children ages 8-15 in a resident camp setting. Candidates should be enthusiastic and excellent role models to the children who attend camp. Cabin leaders will be responsible for leading, supervising and residing with 6-8 campers in a cabin. Counselors also teach classes like arts & crafts, pottery, out door education and camping, swimming, volleyball, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, challenge ropes course, tennis, archery basketball, soccer, yoga, improve theater and more!

Trip leaders
(21 years of age 1 Male 1 Female needed)

June 18– August 12: 1 Male & 1 Female for guiding super trips. Must be 21 years of age to lead our Teen Adventure Camp. Travel program throughout Maine, including white water rafting, hiking, rock climbing, sea kayaking, fort exploration and more! All positions include room & board staff training, one day off per week.

Camp Nurse RN

June 18 - August 12: RN 24 Hours Coverage (1-8 Wks.) Housing and meals provide. Opportunity to bring family members to camp ages 8-15. (6 Days per week)

EMT
Level 2 or 3 (preferred)

June 18 – August 12: 24 Hour coverage 6 days per week. Housing and meals provided.

Program Assistant
Prior Completion of LIT Program

June 25 - August 12: The Program Assistant program is the next step of Leadership Development as campers become counselors. Invited participants are required to return 2 professional and 1 personal reference.
