About YCamp

Founded in 1915, the YMCA Camp of Maine has been dedicated to fulfilling the principles symbolized by the YMCA triangle, the development of MIND, BODY and SPIRIT for all. Located on the shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee, the camp is situated on over 300 acres of pine tree forests, meadows and fresh water ponds. With one and two-week overnight sessions, YCamp has programs for boys and girls ages 7 - 16 years.

The Mission of The State YMCA of Maine is to provide camping and community programs that promote spiritual, mental, and physical growth, with respect for the worth and dignity of all people. The Winthrop District Area YMCA and the Maine Youth & Government programs are integral in our outreach and continued development of community and leadership.

Our Vision is to be the best boy’s and girl’s camp in Maine at developing character of campers, staff, and volunteers; and to provide high quality programs through the Winthrop District Area YMCA.

Our Values are Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Service, and Teamwork.

Diversity Statement

YMCA Camp of Maine was founded in 1915 as the "Camp of Character." We have always believed that having good character means doing the right thing and leading with integrity. We know that everyone can bring grace, talent, perspective, and insight to our world. That is why, year-after-year, we create a place where amazing people can grow and thrive.

With diversity and inclusion in mind, we want our campers, families, and community members to feel confident that we are here to support and enliven. Progress is a shared responsibility. Sometimes that responsibility requires us to remind people of who they are at their best. We pledge to listen and learn, while sharing the steps and actions we take as we move forward.

About the Organization

The Board of Directors monitors the ongoing health of the organization. Good health requires that The State YMCA of Maine is providing programs that are in line with the mission, pushing the organization toward fulfilling the vision, and putting our values in to practice in all that we do. Developing a healthy financial status, creating live Strategic Plans, and providing programs that answer our communities needs are all paramount in a successful charitable organization. The State YMCA of Maine strives to set the standard of quality for impacting campers, participants, families, community, and Alumni.

YMCA Camp of Maine fosters relationships with various community groups and educational opportunities to further the mission of environmental protection and sustainability. The promotion of community engagement and education requires key stakeholders with similar missions.

Unity College is a key partner in providing quality interns and camp counselors who help us grow our nature based programming. Just as YCamp's internship program supports the College's mission of education around environmental topics - an integral part of YCamp's own objectives - the College's interns guide the sustainability efforts we strive to obtain.

Friends of Cobbossee is a partner helping us to protect the health of Cobbosseeconttee through Environmental Camps, monitoring, education, and local advocacy.
