How to contribute financially to the YMCA Camp of Maine

More than 70 thousand campers have attended since our founding father “Uncle Jeff Smith” started our camp! We are very proud of the great impact the camp has had on those who have attended!

GIVING TUESDAY: The global event is Tuesday May 5 as an emergency response to the unprecedented needs caused by COVID-19.

Over the last 105 years, YCamp has been impacting lives. YCamp has always relied on the generosity of friends and neighbors to be able to continue to run, and this is very true today.

Please consider a financial gift to YMCA Camp of Maine this Tuesday, May 5. THANK YOU for your help in keeping the flame of YCamp burning.

Peggy Curtis MacDonald Memorial Fund: Peggy was a lifelong supporter or YMCA Camp of Maine. Her father, Ted Curtis, Sr., started his involvement at YCamp early on and never left. Although she was never a YCamper, her spirit and empowerment lead many lives to the shores of Cobbosseecontee. Her involvement at YCamp was strengthened in 1961 when the family moved across the road. Her husband, Bill MacDonald, served as a Board Member for many years. Her children, Bill, Andy, and Sue, were campers and or staff members for countless years. There is a Granddaughter who was a staff member, too.

As the plaque on Curtis Lodge states: "Peggy and her family were financial contributers to the YCamp." This understates the impact she has had on the generations of YCampers. Thank you for considering support and helping Peggy's legacy live on.

Bill Munsey Campership: This scholarship opportunity for campers started in July, 2016 to honor Bill for his extraordinary commitment to Y Camp. Bill initiated the Scholarship Fund with a $1000 donation. Bill's involvement in the Y Camp started in 1946 as a camper and still continues with his commitment to the Board of Directors. The funds for this Campership are supported by friends, family, and supporters of Y Camp who wish to honor Bill's long standing commitment. Recipients of this Campership are determined based on the campers need, their commitment to Y Camp, and their leadership activities in their community.

Capital Campaign: We need to continue making improvements to our buildings and programs facilities. Our goal is to manage the facilities so they stay rustic and feel like camp. The last major Capital Campaign was a huge success with our $1 million glad being obtained. With your support, Y Camp will be the best camping experience in Maine for our youth.

Annual Fund: These donations are primarily used to assist families and campers who need financial support in order to attend camp. With the support of friends and organizations, we provide over $90,000 in scholarship monies each year to those who have the need and no one is denied.

Adopt a Cabin: By making a yearly contribution of $500.00, you may adopt a cabin, and this money is used for the upkeep of our cabins. You may select a cabin name and it will be inscribed on a paddle and placed on the front of the cabin for all to see. This is a great way to honor a friend, family member or business and in turn, you are helping us keep our buildings in good repair.

Heritage Club: Here is a way for you to leave a gift through your Will or a Living Trust. This kind of bequest enables you to make a specific charitable contribution to the YMCA Camp as part of your estate planning. Your inheritors may save on estate taxes and your wishes are thoughtfully carried out. Gifts of stock, annuities, real estate or life insurance are further options for you to consider as a way to support the YMCA Camp.

The Board of Directors in appreciation of people who financially support the camp, are placing Plaques in the Dinning Hall, with the following levels of giving:

Director's Circle: A gift of $500.00 to $2,499

President's Circle: A gift of 2,500.00 to $24,999

Founders Club: A gift OF $25,000 plus

Adopt a Cabin: $500.00
