To the Y Family:
We are writing to tell you about an important moment in Y Camp history and to enlist your support.
The YMCA Camp of Maine has served Maine youth well for almost a century. As directors of the Camp, we are proud to be a part of the rich history and tradition. We have seen how the experiences of young boys and girls at Y Camp build their self-confidence and self-esteem.
The Camp has had only one capital campaign during its ninety-year history. That took place thirty-six years ago, and the major facilities program areas are showing the effects of many years of use. The State YMCA Board of Directors has identified $ 1 million of improvements to infrastructure that need to be made to insure the Camp will continue to operate at the same level of success as it has in the past.
That is why we have joined together to lead The Directors’ Campaign. Our goal is to preserve the Y Camp experience for future generations of young people from all parts of Maine and throughout the world. The Directors’ Campaign will be totally managed by the Board of Directors, which means every dollar we raise will go directly towards improving Y Camp facilities. |
Throughout our involvement with the YMCA Camp of Maine, we have been privileged to meet so many of you, the thousands of friends, alumni, parents, businesses and foundations who understand the Camp’s mission and have been so generous in supporting it. The unique intangibles that make Y Camp so special are only possible if the right environment exists for those wonderful experiences to take place. Your help is needed once again at this critical time.
We have pledged our time and financial commitment to this project because we believe in what the Y Camp stands for and what it means to the young people who attend. We invite you to join us in meeting this challenge so that we may continue to provide the unique Y Camp experience for future generations of Maine!
