Overview
Upon receiving the recommendation from the Facilities and Maintenance Committee, the State YMCA Board of Directors voted to move forward on a capital improvement plan for the YMCA Camp of Maine starting in 2006.
Who does the YMCA Camp of Maine serve?
Y Camp serves boys and girls ages 8 – 15 years of age. The camp has historically welcomed campers and counselors from across the United States and the world, making it a place where cultural exchanges are commonplace. The tradition is even stronger today; nearly 30 states and 5 countries are represented this year.
The Camp has always endeavored to make sure that children of limited means have the opportunity to build friendships and to experience the outdoor beauty of Maine at camp. Scholarships support thirty percent of the campers who attend annually.

There are also overnight camp outs, team building activities and special afternoon and evening programs that focus on developing self-esteem, camper friendships and fun.
The Y Camp philosophy is to instill character development values of Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility throughout all programs. |
